The Glyn Learning Foundation

Welcome to your PTA

• Danetree Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a group of parents and carers that raise valuable funds to support the school via fund raising events and initiatives. You can help support the PTA in lots of ways by helping to run our events or just turning up and supporting them

• The PTA has meetings where everyone is welcome to join, suggest ideas and lend a hand and suggest how you think funds should be spent.

• The PTA is a great way to have fun, make new friends and help with events that support our school and the education of the children

• All help and support with our events makes a huge difference, whether helping organise, execute or support by attending

• Look out for our PTA newsletters and Facebook page ‘Danetree Friends’.

Whilst this unprecedented situation is ongoing, our task of raising much needed funds for our school is incredibly difficult. Although we can still do things like mufti days and online events, the occasions that earn the largest amounts for us such as the fireworks night and Christmas fair have had to, understandably, be cancelled.

For the first time we are asking parents if you feel you are able, to consider contributing to the PTA fund. This is really easy to do and can either be a cheque or cash which can be handed in to the office, or you can donate via ParentPay. This will enable us to still be able to make positive changes to the school whilst we are unable to fundraise freely. Thank you in advance and we look forward to getting back to normal very soon!

We look forward to getting to know you!

Funds raised by the PTA are intended to provide ‘extras’ that are NOT already provided by the school's main income – often it is 'fun things' that make learning more interesting and exciting.

Last year the PTA gave £13,550 towards the school wish list. This bought:

  • changes to the library and quad area to make an outdoor learning space. The changes are still in the process of being completed this year.
  • purchase of sports equipment, sports storage and Danetree Sports Teams logo kits.
  • stacking chairs to allow more space in the hall.
  • additional resources for the Y3 readers library.

Smaller purchases have been:

  • Y6 leavers festival
  • Real world learning equipment for nursery.
  • Increased library books for all ages.
  • Reindeer visit and Xmas extravaganza.

  • Encourage your work/businesses to get involved through Easy Fundraising OR Match fundraising. Match giving or match funding is a simple way of maximising the fundraising efforts of your individual volunteers. It is an informal arrangement between a company and their employee. Not all companies offer match funding but those that do will pledge a sum of money relating to the amount their employee has raised for or donated to the charity of their choice. Some organisations will match fund on a £ for £ basis, others will stipulate what they are prepared to give

  • Sign up to Amazon Smile and select to support Danetree PTA
  • Sign up to Easy Fundraising and select to support Danetree PTA
  • Class Rep: Help spread the word on PTA news/events to all parents/carers in your class, ensure your class knows about all events and give them the opportunity to get involved.
  • Support PTA events! It’s as easy as just turning up! Even if you don’t have time to help organise or set up, your support through attendance is invaluable
  • We are all ears! All ideas are good ideas, if you have an idea in mind that will help raise money for the school then tell us about it
  • Some of the roles are time-consuming, although also VERY rewarding. If you can’t commit to a big job, look out for things you can do less frequently (e.g. running a stall, book fairs or baking for a cake sale).
  • You can always support PTA events by simply TURNING UP

The PTA Danetree Draw is a lottery with a draw at the end of every half term, half the ticket money goes to the PTA fundraising and the other half is split into 2 prizes.

If your number is drawn, you win! Numbers must be paid for in advance, e.g. £10 for the whole academic year (October 2022 - July 2023) on Parentpay.

There is no limit to the number of tickets you can buy – the more tickets you have, the more chance of winning – but you must be a parent or member of staff to buy tickets.

It’s a fantastic way to contribute to the PTA!

The more people who enter, the larger the prize, so go on, what are you waiting for?
