It’s our final night here at PGL’s Little Canada in the Isle of Wight, and we are reflecting on all of the fun we have had over the course of the day.

A hearty breakfast of bacon, hash browns, baked beans, mushrooms, cereals, fruits, yogurts and plenty of toast and jam gave us the perfect start this morning - especially after an even earlier wake up call! With our tummies full, we were ready to start the day and our Year 6’s were ready to face each and every challenge they could sink their teeth into!

First up on the group’s busy agenda was the vertical challenge and survivor! Our children showed an incredible amount of perseverance and courage whilst up high on the ropes, ladders and tyres!! The quickest time to beat is currently 35 seconds - well done Frazer, you were so speedy! In the forest, we also learnt how to survive if we were stranded on a desert island. Although each group had differing ideas about what the most essential items for survival would be, we all agreed that having some tarpaulin was vital for shelter! We then practised making our very own shelters with some basic materials! They actually managed to shelter all of us! Starting a fire with flint and steel was the most exciting thing however! Next up, we enjoyed lots of fencing (learning new techniques such as the ‘en guard’ stance as well as when to say touché) and the children really enjoyed trying on all of the uniform too!

We had a pit stop for lunch, to fill up with lots of energy, and ate some delicious burgers, chips, salad and rolls with mixed fillings! After lunch, we went on to our final activity of the trip - rock climbing! It was great to see our children so confident and they even went head-to-head in some timed races!!

After a delicious dinner of hunters chicken, potatoes and plenty of vegetables, or shepherdless pie (with a yummy chocolate muffin for pudding) we will be on to our last evening activity… the long-awaited DISCO! Lucky for the teachers, it will be silent! The children will get to wear some very exciting and vibrant headphones whilst they listen to their own songs and dance their last night away!

We have had a spectacular few days to celebrate our time in Year 6, and we will be reflecting on our adventures whilst packing our suitcases before bed!

Make sure to check out instagram to see what we get up to at The Needles on our way home tomorrow!

See you soon, parents!!

It has been another incredibly adventure-packed day in Little Canada for our fantastic Year 6 children!!

After an early alarm, and filling up on a Full English breakfast, porridge or cereal and fruit, we were ready for a day of fun! We ventured all over the PGL site as we embarked on some tricky yet rewarding activities! Our nerves were challenged as we went up high on the giant swing! We used some fantastic team work to pull each child up in the air, and then it was up to them to pull the rope and swing from the height!! The children also did us proud on the zip wire, which was over 7 metres high!! The vertical challenge really did test our wits too, as we had to compete a variety of trails up in the air!! Miss Cudd even got involved to spur the children on!

Other groups had a brilliant time on the low ropes, where their balance and coordination was challenged! Not only did they need to complete a series of circuits on ropes and tyres, but they also had to do this whilst facing obstacles like being sprayed with water! Finally, we also enjoyed some army-style training on the challenge course in the woods! From the tyre tunnels (nicknamed the ‘washing machine’) to tall walls and high beams, our children really impressed us! Ozzy even set a new PGL record on the tyres - just 7.94 seconds!! Legend has it that from now on, it will forever be known as ‘Ozzy’s Washing machine’!

After lunch, we went to visit the shop where the children were able to choose from a range of sweet treats, stationery and souvenirs. They showed so much independence and responsibility - we were very proud!!

We have just had a delicious dinner of Katsu curry or lasagne with plenty of vegetables from the salad bar. We were even treated to some tasty cake with icing and sprinkles for pudding.

We’ll sign off now, as we are getting ready for our evening entertainment. As groups 1, 2 and 3 head over to get toasty by the campfire, groups 4, 5 and 6 will be going head-to-head as they battle in lazer tag!

Speak to you tomorrow!

Year 6

Wow! What a busy first day for Year 6 in the Isle of Wight!! We had a very early start this morning, and it was fantastic to see so many organised and positive faces ready to board the coach. It was great fun on the ferry - we particularly enjoyed watching the lighthouses pass us and waving at the other boats.

As soon as we arrived at Little Canada, we were able to eat some snacks and then had a great time playing basketball, giant chess, frisbee and badminton outside in the sunshine. Just after, the children enjoyed a tasty roast dinner! This gave us plenty of energy for our afternoon activities! Each group got stuck into a range of activities this afternoon! From trapeze, abseiling and survival skills, the children have had a fantastic time!

This evening, after a tasty dinner of fish fingers, potatoes, plenty of salad and a delicious cookie, we have enjoyed our evening activities! Groups 1,2 and 3 went head-to-head in a laser tag battle - the blue team won! Check out the recording on Instagram of the action! Groups 4, 5 and 6 gathered around the campfire for some traditional songs and music!! We are now off to our cabins to get comfy in pyjamas and settle in bed! Check back tomorrow for our new adventures!!

Good night parents!
