Behaviour
Appendix 6 Danetree Behaviour in a Nutshell
We understand that the answer to positive behaviour lies in the ability of adults to deliver behaviour practice that is simple, highly effective and consistent.
Our approach to behaviour is deeply rooted in praise and ‘looking for the good’ in every child. Through the Golden Rules and good manners which are instilled into all children, we ensure a supportive learning environment where children can be inspired, be nurtured and succeed together. Our systems are underpinned by research from Paul Dix, ensuring consistent approaches and consistent language to guide children whilst at Danetree. It embraces Nurture as a tool for shaping and developing all children, using Carol Dweck’s Growth Mindset and restorative approaches when appropriate. It also incorporates best practice advice from Mindworks Surrey on the approaches best used to ensure an inclusive environment.
Children at Danetree are expected to show positive behaviour choices, accepesponsibility for their actions and being mindful of the impact of their actions. Colleagues within Danetree know the ethos and vision of the school and are encouraged to build strong relationships with all children. We believe that good behaviour is essential to allow our pupils to achieve their full potential. Good behaviour promotes effective learning.
