Home School Link Worker (HSLW)

Hello, my name is Julie Parker and I am the Home School Link Worker for
Danetree Primary School.

My aims are to ensure every child enjoys
school and feels happy and secure. I work

in partnership with parents and carers,
schools, and other agencies to support
Danetree famlies.

My role is to:Screenshot 2026 05 08 094506
• Support parents, families, and pupils
with a wide range of concerns
• Help improve school attendance and
punctuality
• Encourage positive behaviour
• Build and sustain strong, positive
relationships between home and school

What is a Home School Link Worker?
A Home School Link Worker helps parents and carers take part in their
child’s school life, which is key to the child’s success. We support
families who may find it hard to be involved by building strong, trusting
links between home and school. We work with parents, children, and
staff to solve problems early, improve attendance and behaviour, and
make school a safe and friendly place for all.

How do Home School Link Workers support children and families?
Engaging parents and carers in a child’s education plays a vital role in
their success. However, we understand that some families face
challenges that make it harder to be involved in school life. No matter
what these barriers are, we aim to support you by building strong, trusting
relationships and helping you address concerns early, which prevents
them from developing into larger issues. This support helps families view
the school as a welcoming and approachable environment—one where
they can connect with other parents, take part in parenting or family
learning opportunities, or even volunteer

Confidentiality

The Home School Link Worker offers a confidential
service regarding personal issues. However, all
information is shared with the Senior Leadership
Team as part of our confidentiality policy.

Should a safeguarding issue be identified, we are
legally bound to follow Government guidelines.
