Supporting Your Child at Home
At Danetree Primary School & Nursery, we recognise that parents and carers play a vital role in supporting children’s learning and development. Little things at home, such as sharing a book, practising number facts, talking about the day or encouraging curiosity, can make a real difference.
We have put together a selection of trusted websites offering practical advice, engaging activities and free resources to help you support your child’s learning, wellbeing and confidence at home.
BBC Bitesize – Primary
A free resource covering a wide range of primary subjects, including English, maths, science, history and geography. Videos, games and interactive activities provide opportunities to revisit learning and develop understanding.

NSPCC – Keeping Children Safe
Visit NSPCC Support for Parents
The NSPCC provides practical advice to help parents and carers keep children safe and well. Resources cover online safety, talking to children about difficult subjects, recognising potential risks and supporting children as they grow.
ProjectEVOLVE – Online Safety
At Danetree, we want every child to develop the knowledge and confidence to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. ProjectEVOLVE supports online safety education through age-appropriate learning and discussion, helping children think critically about their online experiences.
Parents and carers can support this learning by talking regularly with children about their online activities, encouraging them to protect personal information, treat others respectfully and speak to a trusted adult if something online worries them. It is important that children understand that they should never feel they have to manage an online concern alone.
Place2Be – Parenting Smart
This website offers expert advice and practical strategies for parents and carers of primary-aged children. Topics include managing emotions, navigating friendships, responding to challenging behaviour, building resilience and supporting children’s emotional wellbeing.
GOV.UK – Education and Home Learning
Explore the Department for Education’s resources for parents and teachers
Explore government advice and signposted educational resources to help support your child’s learning at home. For current guidance and wider education information, visit GOV.UK Education.
We hope you find these resources useful in supporting your child’s learning and development. At Danetree, we believe that working in partnership with families helps every child to flourish.
